I construct photographs that dialogue with the history of European film, painting and queer culture. The locations that I cast are hyper-regulated governmental institutions and museums. During the shoots the functionality of these austere interiors is subverted, in a process of intimacy, secrecy and dissident behaviour. I am interested in exploring the relationships between architectural and psychological interiority, questioning the many levels by which architectural form shapes our identity and sense of belonging. Moreover, my photographs examine the ways by which the bodies contained within them activate, transform and reconfigure these spaces. Through photographing those close to me, the images also function as love infatuations, portraying psychic worlds of anxiety, doubt and desire.
